Workplace
Design of the workplace is a genre with great possibility for creativity, but also needs to meet the functional and practical needs of the client closely. In our case, our work in workplace environments has taken the form of both ground-up and redesign projects, working in both large and small scales. Further, we are often called upon to rethink and redesign public spaces and common areas within very large-scale buildings. In all instances, we bring strong technical knowledge as well as understanding of lighting, fixtures, furniture and equipment within the workplace design space.
Vijzelstraat 79, Amsterdam
This project is one that we are often taxed with; how to turn a building and space that is often 30-50 years old into a modern and vibrant space with timeless style. Vijzelstraat 79 was one of those spaces. Built in the 70’s, we completely gutted the common areas and brought in a mix of modern and minimal surfaces and materials to turn this into a chic and functional office space. In addition to select pieces from Charles & Ray Eames and Jean Prouvé, we custom designed the reception desk, planter, seating benches and mirror. Additionally, Kenneth Jaworski created all of the fine art works on paper in the lobby, pulling on abstract and Asian styles that fit within his repertoire as a contemporary artist.
