Bespoke Design
Custom design of furniture, lighting and interior elements has always been a strong point of The Extraordinary Office. Special projects call for special solutions, and sometimes furnishings or fixtures that suit a project are not always available on the open market. Therefore, we design items that are specifically suited for a particular project and brief. This is a selection of those bespoke-designed solutions. All of these items are available for tailor-made adjustments and purchase.
The Leiden Tables, Rembrandt Tower
While it is not unusual for us to design everything in a given project, this is a special project where we were called on to design a series of tables for a company dining hall. The Rembrandt Tower, located in Amsterdam and the tallest building in the city, attracts a high level business tenant. In our comprehensive redesign of their dining facilities, we decided to add both a large rectangular family table and a luxurious round table for their guests. Both unique table bases were based on the classic clerestory table, emboldened with exaggerated dimensions and made out of solid 50mm thick oak. We imagined such tables in the studio of a modern-day Rembrandt, and they are named after the town where he was born, Leiden.
