Retail
Designing the consumer experience is a large portion of our work, and we have extensive experience in this area. We understand the needs and desires of consumers and create unique and authentic brand environments, that not only win awards but also translate into success stories for our clients. In the area of retail we get involved on the ground floor and develop concepts and directions for our clients based on complex needs and objectives. The results of this work is then carefully designed and executed globally, in both small and large scale locations, both one-offs and brand roll-outs. Our work in retail has won numerous awards and been published, both online, and in books and magazines. We share a small selection of our retail work here.
Levis Flagship Store, Amsterdam
This retail project was a unique opportunity to create a flagship store for a well-known brand that, in addition to their strong brand values, also embraced the fabric and energy of the city in which it was placed. Together with our client, Maurizio Donadi, VP Levi’s Brand Experience, we created a store bristling with color and surprise, showcasing the power of denim, while also reflecting the resourceful and ingenious mentality of Amsterdam. Additionally, the store was 90% recycled, utilizing, amongst other things, second hand pipes and fittings for clothing racks, changing rooms made of 100% recycled materials and junked bicycles made into wall sculptures.
Red Wing Shoes, Amsterdam
This unique specialist store benefited from the involvement and input from an enthusiastic client and their creative partner, resulting in a unique and ground-breaking retail presence for a much-loved American brand. Working within a compact budget, we utilized existing flooring and surfaces, combined with unique, hand-worked finishes to provide an authentic home for Red Wing Shoes. Key elements are the vintage glass and steel display cabinets housing coal- a reference to the mining heritage of the brand- hand aged wall tiles and unique vintage items throughout the shop, including farming tools and a vintage American flag. The fact that the store remains unchanged since its launch is a testimony to the staying power of the design.
